The Year Ninety-Two
وفي سَنَةُ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَتِسْعِينَ غَزَا مَسْلَمَةُ، وَابْنُ أَخِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بِلَادَ الرُّومِ، فَفَتَحَا حُصُونًا كَثِيرَةً، وَغَنِمَا شَيْئًا كَثِيرًا، وَهَرَبَتْ مِنْهُمُ الرُّومُ إِلَى أَقْصَى بِلَادِهِمْ. وَكَانَ مِمَّا فَتَحَ مَسْلَمَةُ وَابْنُ أَخِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ مِنْ حُصُونِ بِلَادِ الرُّومِ حِصْنُ سَوْسَنَةَ، وَبَلَغَا إِلَى خَلِيجِ الْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةِ.
Translation
✧ In the year ninety-two: Maslamah and his brother’s son ʿUmar b. al-Walīd raided the lands of the Romans, and they conquered many fortresses, and they took much booty, and the Romans fled from them to the farthest part of their lands. Among the fortresses of the lands of the Romans that Maslamah and his brother’s son ʿUmar b. al-Walīd conquered was the fortress of Sawsanah, and they reached the gulf of Constantinople.
