Then the Year Eighty-One Began
بُحَيْرُ بْنُ وَرْقَاءَ الصُّرَيْمِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ وَمِمَّنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْأَعْيَانِ: بُحَيْرُ بْنُ وَرْقَاءَ الصُّرَيْمِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ أَحَدُ الْأَشْرَافِ بِخُرَاسَانَ، وَالْقُوَّادِ وَالْأُمَرَاءِ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي حَارَبَ ابْنَ خَازِمٍ وَقَتَلَهُ، وَقَتَلَ بُكَيْرَ بْنَ وِشَاحٍ. سُوِيدُ بْنُ غَفْلَةَ بْنِ عَوْسَجَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ثُمَّ قُتِلَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ: سُوِيدُ بْنُ غَفْلَةَ بْنِ عَوْسَجَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَبُو أُمَيَّةَ الْجَعَفِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، شَهِدَ الْيَرْمُوكَ، وَحَدَّثَ عَنْ جَمَاعَةٍ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ، وَكَانَ مِنْ كِبَارِ الْمُخَضْرَمِينَ، وَيُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَصَلَّى مَعَهُ، وَالصَّحِيحُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَهُ، وَكَانَ مَوْلِدُهُ عَامَ وُلِدَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، وَقِيلَ: إِنَّهُ وُلِدَ بَعْدَهُ بِسَنَتَيْنِ. وَعَاشَ مِائَةً وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، لَمْ يُرَ يَوْمًا مُحْتَبِيًا وَلَا مُتَسَانِدًا، وَافْتَضَّ بِكْرًا عَامَ وَفَاتِهِ، وَكَانَتْ وَفَاتُهُ فِي سَنَةِ إِحْدَى وَثَمَانِينَ، قَالَهُ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ. وَقِيلَ: إِنَّهُ تُوُفِّيَ فِي سَنَةِ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَثَمَانِينَ. فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ كَانَ مِنَ الْعُبَّادِ الزُّهَّادِ الْعُلَمَاءِ، وَلَهُ وَصَايَا وَكَلِمَاتٌ حِسَانٌ، وَقَدْ رَوَى عِدَّةَ أَحَادِيثَ عَنِ الصَّحَابَةِ، وَعَنْهُ خَلْقٌ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ.
Translation
✧ Buḥayr b. Warqāʾ al-Ṣuraymī al-Baṣrī Among the notable persons who died in it were: Buḥayr b. Warqāʾ al-Ṣuraymī al-Baṣrī One of the nobles in Khurasān, and of the commanders and emirs. He is the one who fought Ibn Khāzim and killed him, and he killed Bukayr b. Wishāḥ. Suwayd b. Ghaflah b. ʿAwsajah b. ʿĀmir Then, in this year, was killed: Suwayd b. Ghaflah b. ʿAwsajah b. ʿĀmir Abū Umayyah al-Juʿafī al-Kūfī. He witnessed al-Yarmūk, and narrated from a group of the Companions. He was among the senior mukhaḍramūn. It is said that he saw the Prophet ﷺ and prayed with him, but the correct view is that he did not see him. His birth was in the year in which the Prophet ﷺ was born, and it is said that he was born two years after him. He lived one hundred and twenty years. He was never seen sitting with his legs drawn up and wrapped in his garment, nor leaning on anything. He deflowered a virgin in the year of his death. His death was in the year eighty-one, as stated by Abū ʿUbayd and more than one authority. It is also said that he died in the year eighty-two, but Allah knows best. ʿAbd Allāh b. Shaddād b. al-Hād ʿAbd Allāh b. Shaddād b. al-Hād He was one of the devoted worshippers, ascetics, and scholars. He had excellent counsels and words. He narrated a number of hadiths from the Companions, and from him a multitude of the Successors narrated.
