The Year Seventy of the Hijrah

Translation

✧ The Day of al-Balīkh The Taghlib gathered and marched to al-Balīkh, where ʿUmayr was among the Qays. Al-Balīkh is a river between Ḥarrān and al-Raqqah. They met, and the Taghlib were routed, and there was much killing among them, and the bellies of the women were ripped open, just as they had done on the Day of al-Tharthār. Ibn Ṣaffār said: Blue spear-points and the fall of every Indian sword Shook your heart at al-Balīkh, and it slipped away.
