The Year Seventy of the Hijrah

Translation

✧ The Day of Mākisīn When the evil between Qays and Taghlib became entrenched—with ʿUmayr over Qays and Shuʿayth over Taghlib—ʿUmayr raided Banū Taghlib and their assembly at Mākisīn on the Khābūr. They fought a fierce battle, and it was their first encounter. Five hundred of Banū Taghlib were killed, and Shuʿayth was killed. His leg had been cut off, yet he fought until he was killed, saying: Qays have known, and we know, that the young man is killed while he is maimed.
