The story of Moses the one who spoke with Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

Translation

✧ Mention of al-Khiḍr ﷺ Al-Khiḍr had existed before Mūsā. Al-Ṭabarī said: He was in the days of Afrīdūn the king, son of Athfiyān. He said: And it is said that he was at the vanguard of the elder Dhū al-Qarnayn, who was in the days of Ibrāhīm. And Dhū al-Qarnayn, according to some people, is Afrīdūn, and some of them claimed that he was from the offspring of one who had believed in al-Khalīl ﷺ and had emigrated with him from the land of Bābil. And ʿAbd Allāh b. Shawdhab said: Al-Khiḍr was from the offspring of Fāris. And Ibn Isḥāq said: He was from the tribe of Hārūn b. ʿImrān. And the saying of those who said that he was in the time of Afrīdūn is more than a thousand years, and al-Khiḍr is ancient, but since his mention only arose in the time of Mūsā, we have mentioned him here. And it is said that he reached with Dhū al-Qarnayn the river of life and drank from its water, while Dhū al-Qarnayn and those with him did not know, so he was made immortal and he is alive among them until now. And others said: Dhū al-Qarnayn, who was in the era of Ibrāhīm, was Afrīdūn b. Athghiyān, and at his vanguard was al-Khiḍr. And he who said that he was the son of Firʿawn has gone very far astray. And it is said that he was the son of Ḍaḥḥāk, who ruled the world for a thousand years. Ibn Jarīr said: And that upon which the majority of the People of the Book are agreed is that he was in the time of Afrīdūn.
