Buraydah b. al-Ḥuṣayb: Buraydah b. al-Ḥuṣayb b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥārith b. al-Aʿraj, Abū ʿAbd Allāh: He embraced Islam when the Prophet ﷺ passed by him on the road of the Hijrah. That was because when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out from Makkah to Madinah and reached al-Ghamīm, Buraydah b. al-Ḥuṣayb came to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and those with him to Islam. They were about eighty households. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the evening prayer, and they prayed behind him that night the beginning of Sūrat Maryam. Then he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Madinah after the battles of Badr and Uḥud had passed, and he learned the rest of the sūrah. He campaigned with him in his expeditions after that. He appointed him over the captives of al-Murayṣīʿ, gave him a banner on the day of the conquest, and sent him to Aslam and Ghifār to collect their zakāt, and to Aslam when he intended the expedition of Tabūk to call them out. He remained residing in Madinah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until he died. When al-Baṣrah was conquered, he moved to it and settled there. Then he went out as a warrior to Khurāsān, and he died in Marw during the caliphate of Yazīd. Al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym: al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym, Abū Yazīd al-Thawrī: He narrated from Ibn Masʿūd and others. From Saʿīd b. Masrūq, who said: ʿAbd Allāh said to al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym: If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw you, he would love you. Aḥmad said with his chain of transmission from Abū ʿUbaydah, who said: ʿAbd Allāh used to say to al-Rabīʿ: Whenever I see you, I remember the humble ones. When al-Rabīʿ came to ʿAbd Allāh, there was no need for permission until each of them had finished with his companion. When al-Rabīʿ came to the door of ʿAbd Allāh, he would say to the slave girl, "Who is at the door?" and the slave girl would say, "That blind old man." Sufyān b. Nusayr b. Dhuʿlūq narrated with his chain of transmission, saying: Someone who accompanied al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym for twenty years informed us that he never heard from him a word that could be criticized. Sufyān also informed us, saying: The concubine of al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym told me: All of the work of al-Rabīʿ b. Khuthaym was secret. A man would come when he had opened the muṣḥaf, and he would cover it with his garment. Al-Rabāb bt. Imriʾ al-Qays: al-Rabāb bt. Al-Rabāb was with him on the day of al-Ṭaff, and she returned to Madinah bereaved with those who returned. The nobles of Quraysh proposed to her, and she said: By Allah, there shall be no other father-in-law after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Nothing of the beasts and others remained except that it came out, and they came out of their burrows fleeing, even the beasts carrying their young. Then after the death of Muʿāwiyah, he came to Yazīd, who sent him back as governor over Ifrīqiyah in this year. A gathering of the Byzantines and Berbers confronted him while he was with few men.
