The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
وَفِي سنة تسع وخمسين حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَكَانَ الْوَالِي عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَعَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، وَعَلَى قَضَائِهَا هِشَامُ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ، وَعَلَى خُرَاسَانَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ وَعَلَى سِجِسْتَانَ عَبَّادُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، وَعَلَى كَرْمَانَ شُرَيْكُ بْنُ الْأَعْوَرِ الْحَارِثِيُّ مِنْ قِبَلِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ.
Translation
✧ In the year fifty-nine, the people performed the pilgrimage led by ʿUthmān b. Muḥammad b. Abī Sufyān. The governor of al-Madīnah was al-Walīd b. ʿUtbah b. Abī Sufyān; of al-Baṣrah, ʿUbayd Allāh b. Ziyād, with its qāḍī Hishām b. Hubayrah; of Khurāsān, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ziyād; of Sijistān, ʿAbbād b. Ziyād; and of Kirmān, Shurayk b. al-Aʿwar al-Ḥārithī, acting on behalf of ʿUbayd Allāh b. Ziyād.
