The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān

وفي سَنَةُ ثَمَانٍ وَخَمْسِينَ كان: غَزْوُ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخَثْعَمِيُّ أَرْضَ الرُّومِ . وَقُتِلَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ شَجَرَةَ فِي الْبَحْرِ فِي السُّفُنِ. وَقِيلَ: إِنَّ الَّذِي شَتَّى بِأَرْضِ الرُّومِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ عَمْرُو بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْجُهَنِيُّ، وَالَّذِي غَزَا فِي الْبَحْرِ جُنَادَةُ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ.

Translation

✧ In the year fifty-eight AH: There occurred: The expedition of Mālik b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Khathʿamī to the land of the Byzantines. And Yazīd b. Shajara was killed at sea in the ships. It is said: The one who wintered in the land of the Byzantines in this year was ʿAmr b. Yazīd al-Juhanī, and the one who raided by sea was Junāda b. Abī Umayya.
