The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
وفي سنة أربع وخمسين حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ مَرْوَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ وَكَانَ هُوَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، وَكَانَ عَلَى الْكُوفَةِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ، وَقِيلَ: بَلْ كَانَ الضَّحَّاكَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ. وَكَانَ عَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ غَيْلَانَ.
Translation
✧ In the year fifty-four, Marwān b. al-Ḥakam led the people in the Pilgrimage, and he was governor of al-Madīnah. ʿAbd Allāh b. Khālid b. Usayd was governor of al-Kūfah, and it is said: rather al-Ḍaḥḥāk b. Qays was. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. Ghaylān was governor of al-Baṣrah.
