The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān

فَتْحِ جَزِيرَةِ أَرْوَادَ  وَفي سنة أربع وخمسين فَتَحَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمُقَدِّمُهُمْ جُنَادَةُ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ جَزِيرَةَ أَرْوَادَ، قَرِيبُ الْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةِ، فَأَقَامُوا بِهَا سَبْعَ سِنِينَ، وَكَانَ مَعَهُمْ مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ جَبْرٍ، فَلَمَّا مَاتَ مُعَاوِيَةُ وَوَلِيَ ابْنُهُ يَزِيدُ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْعَوْدِ فَعَادُوا.

Translation

✧ The conquest of the island of Arwād. In the year fifty-four, the Muslims conquered, with their commander Junādah b. Abī Umayyah, the island of Arwād, near Constantinople. They remained on it for seven years, and Mujāhid b. Jabr was with them. When Muʿāwiyah died and his son Yazīd assumed authority, he ordered them to return, so they returned.
