The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
وَفِي سنة ثلاث وأربعين حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ مَرْوَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، وَكَانَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ. وَكَانَ عَلَى مَكَّةَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْعَاصِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، وَعَلَى الْكُوفَةِ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ، وَعَلَى قَضَائِهَا شُرَيْحٌ، وَعَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ وَفَارِسَ وَسِجِسْتَانَ وَخُرَاسَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، وَعَلَى قَضَائِهَا عُمَيْرُ بْنُ يَثْرِبِيٍّ.
Translation
✧ In the year forty-three, Marwān b. al-Ḥakam led the people in the pilgrimage, and he was governor of al-Madīnah. The governor of Makkah was Khālid b. al-ʿĀṣ b. Hishām; the governor of al-Kūfah was al-Mughīrah b. Shuʿbah, with Shurayḥ over its judiciary; and the governor of al-Baṣrah, Fāris, Sijistān, and Khurāsān was ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿĀmir, with ʿUmayr b. Yathribī over its judiciary.
