The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān

[ الْوَفَيَاتُ ]: وَفِيهَا مَاتَ حَبِيبُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْفِهْرِيُّ بِأَرْمِينِيَّةَ، وَكَانَ أَمِيرًا لِمُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَيْهَا، وَكَانَ قَدْ شَهِدَ مَعَهُ حُرُوبَهُ كُلَّهَا. هانيء بن نيار وَفِيهَا مَاتَ هَانِئُ بْنُ نِيَارِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَنْصَارِيُّ: وَهُوَ خَالُ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ، وَقِيلَ: سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ، وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا عَقَبِيًّا. .

Translation

✧ The Deaths: During this year Ḥabīb b. Maslamah al-Fihrī died in Armenia. He was Muʿāwiyah’s governor there and had fought alongside him in all his battles. Hāniʾ b. Niyār: During this year Hāniʾ b. Niyār b. ʿAmr al-Anṣārī died: He was the maternal uncle of al-Barāʾ b. ʿĀzib. It is also said he died in the year forty-five. He had been present at Badr and at al-ʿAqabah. .
