The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
غَزَا بُسْرُ بْنُ أَبِي أَرْطَاةَ بِلَادَ الرُّومِ ، فَوَغَلَ فِيهَا حَتَّى بَلَغَ مَدِينَةَ قُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةَ، وَشَتَّى بِبِلَادِهِمْ فِيمَا زَعَمَهُ الْوَاقِدِيُّ، وَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ آخَرُونَ، وَقَالُوا: لَمْ يَكُنْ بِهَا مَشْتًى لِأَحَدٍ. فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Translation
✧ Busr b. Abī Arṭāh raided the land of the Romans, penetrating deep into it until he reached the city of Constantinople, and he wintered in their land according to what al-Wāqidī claimed. Others denied that, saying: There was no wintering there for anyone. But God knows best.
