The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ فِيهَا غَزَا الْمُسْلِمُونَ الْلَّانَ وَالرُّومَ، فَقَتَلُوا مِنْ أُمَرَائِهِمْ وَبَطَارِقَتِهِمْ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا، وَغَنِمُوا وَسَلِمُوا.
Translation
✧ Then the year forty-two began. In it, the Muslims raided the Alans and the Byzantines, killing many of their commanders and patricians, and they took spoils and returned safely.
