The caliphate of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān
خُرُوجِ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ وَمَقْتَلُهُ ثُمَّ إِنَّ فَرْوَةَ بْنَ نَوْفَلٍ الْأَشْجَعِيَّ خَرَجَ عَلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ بَعْدَ مَسِيرِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَوَجَّهَ إِلَيْهِ الْمُغِيرَةُ خَيْلًا عَلَيْهَا شَبَثُ بْنُ رِبْعِيٍّ، وَيُقَالُ: مَعْقِلُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، فَلَقِيَهُ، بِشَهْرَزُورَ فَقَتَلَهُ، وَقِيلَ قُتِلَ بِبَعْضِ السَّوَادِ.
Translation
✧ The going forth of Farwah b. Nawfal and his being killed Then Farwah b. Nawfal al-Ashjaʿī went forth against al-Mughīrah b. Shuʿbah after Muʿāwiyah's departure. Al-Mughīrah dispatched against him cavalry under Shabath b. Ribʿī—and it is said: Maʿqil b. Qays. He met him at Shahrazūr and killed him. And it is said he was killed in part of the Sawād.
