The Caliphate of ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān
فتوحات ابن عامر وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ فَتَحَ ابْنُ عَامِرٍ فُتُوحَاتٍ كَثِيرَةً كَانَ قَدْ نَقَضَ أَهْلُهَا مَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِنَ الصُّلْحِ، فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا فَتَحَ عَنْوَةً، وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ مَا فَتَحَ صُلْحًا، فَكَانَ فِي جُمْلَةِ مَا صَالَحَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْضُ الْمَدَائِنِ - وَهِيَ مَرْوُ - عَلَى أَلْفَيْ أَلْفٍ وَمِائَتَيْ أَلْفٍ، وَقِيلَ: عَلَى سِتَّةِ آلَافِ أَلْفٍ وَمِائَتَيْ أَلْفٍ. وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ، ؓ. فتح أرمينية وقتل كسرى وَقَالَ الْوَاقِدِيُّ: وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ فُتِحَتْ أَرْمِينِيَةُ عَلَى يَدَيْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ. وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ قُتِلَ كِسْرَى مَلِكُ الْفُرْسِ.
Translation
✧ The conquests of Ibn ʿĀmir In this year, Ibn ʿĀmir achieved many conquests, whose people had broken the peace treaty they had. Among them were those he conquered by force, and among them were those he conquered by treaty. Among the total of what he made peace upon was some of the cities—which is Marw—for two million and two hundred thousand, and it was said: for six million and two hundred thousand. In this year, ʿUthmān b. ʿAffān, ؓ, led the people in the Hajj. The conquest of Armenia and the killing of Kisrā Al-Wāqidī said: In this year, Armenia was conquered at the hands of Ḥabīb b. Maslamah. In this year, Kisrā, the king of the Persians, was killed.
