Creation of the heavens and the earth
أَجْنَاسِ الطَّيْرِ وَحَيَوَانِ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ جَمِيعُ أَجْنَاسِ الطَّيْرِ وَجَمِيعُ دَوَابِّ الْأَرْضِ كَانَتْ مُنْتَشِرَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ وَالْهَوَاءِ وَالْبِحَارِ قَبْلَ آدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ . قَالَ وَهْبُ بْنُ مُنَبِّهٍ: فَأُرِي حَمْلَ الْبَحْرِ النَّسْرَ، قَالَ: يَا خَطِيبَ الطَّيْرِ أَحَدَثَ حَدَثٌ، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، خُلِقَ خَلْقٌ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ كَذَا مِنْ صِفَتِهِ كَذَا يُضَعِّفُهُ - يَعْنِي آدَمَ - غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ أُعْطِيَ الرِّفْقَ، فَقَالَ: وَيْحَكَ إِنَّهُ مَنْ أُعْطِيَ الرِّفْقَ اسْتَتَرَ لَكَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَاسْتَخْرَجَنِي مِنَ الْبَحْرِ. قَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ: لَمَّا أُهْبِطَ آدَمُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَانَ فِيهَا نَسْرٌ فِي الْبَرِّ، وَحُوتٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ، وَسَيَأْتِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ فِي انْهِبَاطِ آدَمَ.
Translation
✧ All kinds of birds and land and sea animals All kinds of birds and all the beasts of the earth were spread across the land, the air, and the seas before Adam ﷺ. Wahb b. Munabbih said: The sea's burden, the vulture, was shown [it]. He said: "O orator of the birds, has some event occurred?" It said: "Yes. A creature has been created from whose affair is such-and-such and from whose description is such-and-such. It will weaken him—meaning Adam—except that he has been given gentleness." So he said: "Woe to you! Indeed, the one who is given gentleness will be concealed from you from the sky, and He will bring me out of the sea." Saʿīd b. Jubayr said: When Adam was brought down to the earth, there was in it a vulture on the land and a whale in the sea, and this report will come later in the descent of Adam.
