The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb

Translation

✧ His deeds ؓ Ibn Saʿd said: (ʿUmar established the flour house, and he put in it flour and sawīq, dates and raisins, and what was needed; he used it to aid the stranded. He placed along the road between Makkah and Madinah what would set right anyone who became stranded. He demolished the Prophet’s Mosque and added to it, expanded it, and spread pebbles on it. He was the one who expelled the Jews from the Ḥijāz to Syria, and expelled the people of Najrān to al-Kūfah. He was the one who moved the Station of Ibrāhīm to its present location, for it had been attached to the House.
