The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
وَفِي سنة ثمان عشرة فَتْحُ طَبَرِسْتَانَ وَقِيلَ: إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي سَنَةِ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ وَرَاسَلَ الْإِصْبَهْبَذُ صَاحِبُ طَبَرِسْتَانَ سُوَيْدًا فِي الصُّلْحِ عَلَى أَنْ يَتَوَادَعَا وَيَجْعَلَ لَهُ شَيْئًا عَلَى غَيْرِ نَصْرٍ وَلَا مَعُونَةٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ، فَقَبِلَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ وَكَتَبَ لَهُ كِتَابًا.
Translation
✧ And in the year eighteen [occurred] the conquest of Ṭabaristān. And it is said that it was in the year twenty-two, and the Iṣbahbadh, the ruler of Ṭabaristān, corresponded with Suwayd regarding a peace settlement on the basis that they would mutually refrain from hostilities and that he would give him something, without [providing] support or assistance against anyone. So he accepted that from him and wrote him a document.
