The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
فَتْحُ قَوْمِسَ وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ الْبَشِيرُ بِفَتْحِ الرَّيِّ وَأَخْمَاسِهَا، كَتَبَ عُمَرُ إِلَى نُعَيْمِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ أَخَاهُ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ مُقَرِّنٍ إِلَى قَوْمِسَ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهَا سُوَيْدٌ، فَلَمْ يَقُمْ لَهُ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى أَخَذَهَا سِلْمًا، وَعَسْكَرَ بِهَا وَكَتَبَ لِأَهْلِهَا كِتَابَ أَمَانٍ وَصُلْحٍ.
Translation
✧ The Conquest of Qūmis When the bearer of glad tidings arrived with the conquest of al-Rayy and its fifths, ʿUmar wrote to Nuʿaym b. Muqarrin ordering him to send his brother Suwayd b. Muqarrin to Qūmis. Suwayd marched to it, and nothing withstood him until he took it peacefully. He encamped there and wrote for its people a document of security and peace.
