The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
وَفِي سنة إحدى وعشرين ضُرِبَتِ الدَّرَاهِمُ عَلَى نَقْشِ الْكِسْرَوِيَّةِ، وَعَلَى تِلْكَ السِّكَكِ بِأَعْيَانِهَا، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ جُعِلَ فِيهَا اسْمُ اللَّهِ، فَبَعْضُهَا كُتِبَ فِيهِ: "الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ"، وَبَعْضُهَا: "مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ"، وَبَعْضُهَا: "لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ" وَبَعْضُهَا "عُمَرُ".
Translation
✧ In the year twenty-one, dirhams were struck in the Sasanian style and on those very dies, except that the name of God was placed on them. On some was written: “Praise be to God,” on some: “Muḥammad is the Messenger of God,” on some: “There is no god but God,” and on some: “ʿUmar.”
