The caliphate of ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb
وَفِي سنة تسع عشرة بَنَى عُمَرُ ؓ مَسْجِدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَزَادَ فِي مُقَدَّمِهِ إِلَى مَوْضِعِ الْمَقْصُورَةِ، وَزَادَ فِي نَاحِيَةِ دَارِ مَرْوَانَ، وَعَمِلَ بِالْجَرِيدِ سَقْفَهُ، وَجَعَلَ عَمَدَهُ الْخَشَبَ، وَقَالَ: هَذَا بَابٌ لِلنِّسَاءِ.
Translation
✧ In the year nineteen, ʿUmar ؓ built the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He extended its front to the place of the maqṣūrah, and he extended on the side of the house of Marwān. He made its ceiling of palm branches and made its pillars of wood, and he said: This is a door for the women.
