The caliphate of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ᴿᴬ
ذِكْرُ أَزْوَاجِهِ وَأَوْلَادِهِ ؓ تَزَوَّجَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ امْرَأَتَيْنِ، إِحْدَاهُمَا: قُتَيْلَةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ وَأَسْمَاءَ ذَاتَ النِّطَاقَيْنِ. وَالثَّانِيَةُ: أُمُّ رُومَانَ بِنْتُ عَامِرٍ، وَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ وَعَائِشَةَ. وَتَزَوَّجَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ امْرَأَتَيْنِ، إِحْدَاهُمَا: أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ مُحَمَّدًا، وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ قَبْلَهُ، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ مُحَمَّدًا، وَتَزَوَّجَهَا بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَلِيٌّ ؓ، فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهَا وَلَدَتْ مِنْهُ وَلَدًا اسْمُهُ مُحَمَّدٌ، فَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ الْمُحَمَّدَيْنِ. وَالزَّوْجَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ: حَبِيبَةُ بِنْتُ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بَعْدَ وَفَاتِهِ، وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَمَّا هَاجَرَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ نَزَلَ عَلَى أَبِيهَا خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فَتَزَوَّجَهَا.
Translation
✧ Mention of his wives and children ؓ He married two women in the Jāhiliyyah. One of them was Qutaylah bt. ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā, and she bore him ʿAbd Allāh and Asmāʾ Dhāt al-Niṭāqayn. The second was Umm Rūmān bt. ʿĀmir, and she bore him ʿAbd al-Raḥmān and ʿĀʾishah. He married two women in Islam. One of them was Asmāʾ bt. ʿUmays, and she bore him Muḥammad. She had been with Jaʿfar b. Abī Ṭālib ؓ before him, and bore him Muḥammad. After Abū Bakr, ʿAlī ؓ married her, and it is mentioned that she bore him a son named Muḥammad, so she used to be called Umm al-Muḥammadayn (mother of the two Muḥammads). The second wife was Ḥabībah bt. Khārijah b. Zayd, and she bore him Umm Kulthūm after his death. When Abū Bakr migrated to Madinah, he stayed with her father Khārijah b. Zayd and married her.
