The caliphate of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ᴿᴬ
فَصْلٌ فِيمَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ . قَدْ قِيلَ: إِنَّ وَقْعَةَ الْيَمَامَةِ وَمَا بَعْدَهَا كَانَتْ فِي سَنَةِ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ، فَلْيُذْكَرْ هَا هُنَا مَنْ تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُهُ فِي سَنَةِ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ مَنْ قُتِلَ بِالْيَمَامَةِ، وَمَا بَعْدَهَا، وَلَكِنَّ الْمَشْهُورَ مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ. بَشِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخَزْرَجِيُّ وَالِدُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ وَمِمَّنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ بَشِيرُ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخَزْرَجِيُّ، وَالِدُ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، شَهِدَ الْعَقَبَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ وَبَدْرًا وَمَا بَعْدَهَا، وَيُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ. وَهُوَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ بَايَعَ الصِّدِّيقَ يَوْمَ السَّقِيفَةِ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَشَهِدَ مَعَ خَالِدٍ حُرُوبَهُ إِلَى أَنْ قُتِلَ بِعَيْنِ التَّمْرِ، ؓ. رَوَى لَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ حَدِيثَ النُّحْلِ. الصَّعْبُ بْنُ جَثَّامَةَ اللَّيْثِيُّ تَزَوَّجَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ بِابْنَتِهِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ خَالَتِهَا فَاطِمَةَ، وَمَا أَدْرِي هَلْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ قَبْلَ وَفَاةِ أَبِيهَا أَبِي الْعَاصِ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ. فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Translation
✧ Section on those who died in this year. It has been said: The battle of al-Yamāmah and what followed it took place in the year twelve; so let there be mentioned here those whose mention has preceded in the year eleven, those who were killed at al-Yamāmah and what followed it, but the well-known [view] is what we have mentioned. Bashīr b. Saʿd b. Thaʿlabah al-Khazrajī, father of al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr Among those who died in this year was Bashīr b. Saʿd b. Thaʿlabah al-Khazrajī, father of al-Nuʿmān b. Bashīr. He was present at the second ʿAqabah, at Badr, and what followed. It is said that he was the first of the Anṣār to embrace Islam. He was the first of the Anṣār to pledge allegiance to al-Ṣiddīq on the day of the Saqīfah. He was present with Khālid in his wars until he was killed at ʿAyn al-Tamr, ؓ. Al-Nasāʾī related for him the ḥadīth of the gift (al-nuḥl). Al-Ṣaʿb b. Jaththāmah al-Laythī ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib married his daughter Umāmah bt. Abī al-ʿĀṣ after the death of her maternal aunt Fāṭimah. I do not know whether that was before the death of her father Abū al-ʿĀṣ or after it; God knows best.
