The caliphate of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ᴿᴬ

Translation

✧ [The ḥadīth of Amghīshiyā] Khālid sent to Abū Bakr ؓ the news of the conquest of Alīs. When Khālid had finished the battle of Alīs, he went to Amghīshiyā; its people had already evacuated, so he ordered its demolition. It was a city like al-Ḥīrah. They obtained from it what they had never obtained the like of before: the share of a horseman reached one thousand five hundred, apart from the extra shares he granted to those who distinguished themselves. Khālid sent to al-Ṣiddīq the good tidings, the victory, and the fifth of the wealth and captives with a man called Jandal, of the Banū ʿIjl, who was a resolute guide. When he conveyed the message to al-Ṣiddīq and delivered the trust, he praised him and rewarded him with a slave girl from the captives. Al-Ṣiddīq said: 'O assembly of Quraysh, your lion has attacked the lion and overcome him over his spoils; women are incapable of giving birth to the like of Khālid b. al-Walīd.'
