Translation
✧ His ﷺ disposal of the wealth he had and his manumission of his slaves Ibn Saʿd and al-Ṭabarānī narrated—with the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ—from Sahl b. Saʿd ؓ who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had seven dinars which he placed with ʿĀʾishah. When he was in his illness, he said: “O ʿĀʾishah, send the gold to ʿAlī.” Then he fell unconscious, and ʿĀʾishah was distracted by his condition, until he said that several times, each time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell unconscious and ʿĀʾishah was distracted by his condition. So she sent it to ʿAlī, and he gave it in charity. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Monday night in the throes of death. ʿĀʾishah sent to one of the women with her lamp and said: “Drip for us into my lamp from your skin of clarified butter, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has entered the throes of death.” Ibn Saʿd also narrated from al-Muṭṭalib b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥanṭab that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to ʿĀʾishah—while she was supporting him against her chest: “O ʿĀʾishah, what has become of that gold?” She said: “It is with me.” He said: “Then spend it.” Then he lost consciousness while he was against her chest. When he regained consciousness, he said: “Have you spent that gold, O ʿĀʾishah?” She said: “No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah.” She said: So he called for it and placed it in his palm and counted it, and it was six dinars. He said: “What does Muḥammad think of his Lord if he meets Allah while these are with him?” So she spent all of it, and he died that very day. Musaddad, Ibn Abī ʿUmar, Ibn Abī Shaybah, and Imām Aḥmad narrated—with the men of the Ṣaḥīḥ—from ʿĀʾishah ؓ who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me during the pain in which he died: “What have you done with the gold?” I said: “It is with me, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “Bring it.” So I brought it. He placed it in his palm, and it was between five and seven. He raised his palm with it and said: “Spend it.” And he said: “What does Muḥammad think if he meets Allah while these are with him? Spend it.” Abū Ṭāhir al-Mukhliṣ narrated from Sahl b. Yūsuf from his father from his grandfather who said: The Prophet ﷺ manumitted forty souls during his illness.
