The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ وَبْرَةَ، وَقِيلَ: وَبْرَ بْنَ بُحَيْسٍ إِلَى دَاذَوَيْهِ [وَقِيلَ: وَبْرُ بْنُ يُحَنَّسَ. قَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَرِّ: وَيُقَالُ: ابْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى دَاذَوَيْهِ وَفَيْرُوزَ الدَّيْلَمِيِّ وَجُشَيْشٍ الدَّيْلَمِيِّ بِالْيَمَنِ، لِيَقْتُلُوا الْأَسْوَدَ الْكَذَّابَ الْعَنْسِيَّ الَّذِي ادَّعَى النُّبُوَّةَ. رَوَى سَيْفُ بْنُ عُمَرَ فِي كِتَابِ الرِّدَّةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ: قَاتَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُسَيْلِمَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدَ وَطُلَيْحَةَ بِالرُّسُلِ، وَلَمْ يَشْغَلْهُ مَا كَانَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَجَعِ عَنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، فَبَعَثَ وَبْرَ بْنَ يُحَنَّسَ الْأَزْدِيَّ إِلَى فَيْرُوزَ وَجُشَيْشٍ الدَّيْلَمِيَّيْنِ وَدَاذَوَيْهِ الْإِصْطَخْرِيِّ، وَكَانَتْ هَذِهِ الْحِكَايَةُ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ ﷺ ]
Translation
✧ His ﷺ sending Wabarah—or, it is said, Wabr b. Buḥays—to Dādhawayh [It is said: Wabr b. Yuḥannas. Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: It is also said: Ibn Miḥṣan al-Khuzāʿī. He was a Companion, and he is the one whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to Dādhawayh, Fayrūz al-Daylamī, and Jushaysh al-Daylamī in Yemen, to kill al-Aswad al-Kadhdhāb al-ʿAnsī, who claimed prophethood. Sayf b. ʿUmar narrated in the Book of Riddah from Ibn ʿAbbās ؓ, who said: The Prophet ﷺ fought Musaylimah, al-Aswad, and Ṭulayḥah by means of messengers, and the pain he was suffering did not distract him from the command of Allah Almighty. He sent Wabr b. Yuḥannas al-Azdī to Fayrūz and Jushaysh al-Daylamī and Dādhawayh al-Iṣṭakhrī, and this narrative occurred during the illness in which he died ﷺ.]
