The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ [عَيَّاشَ] بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ ؓ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ بِكِتَابٍ إِلَى الحارث ومسروح ونعيم بني عبد كلال مِنْ حِمْيَرَ. [وَاسْمُ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ، يُكْنَى أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَقِيلَ: أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ. هُوَ أَخُو أَبِي جَهْلِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ لِأُمِّهِ، أُمُّهُمَا أُمُّ الْجُلَاسِ، وَاسْمُهَا أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ مَخْرَبَةَ بْنِ جَنْدَلِ بْنِ أُبَيْرِ بْنِ نَهْشَلِ بْنِ دَارِمٍ، وَهُوَ أَخُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ لِأَبِيهِ وَأُمِّهِ. كَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ قَدِيمًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ دَارَ الْأَرْقَمِ، وَهَاجَرَ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ].
Translation
✧ His ﷺ sending [ʿAyyāsh] b. Abī Rabīʿah ؓ to Yemen with a letter to al-Ḥārith, Masrūḥ, and Nuʿaym, the Banū ʿAbd Kulāl of Ḥimyar. [Abū Rabīʿah’s name is ʿAmr b. al-Mughīrah b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. Makhzūm; he is called Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and it is said: Abū ʿAbd Allāh. He is the maternal brother of Abū Jahl b. Hishām, their mother being Umm al-Julās, whose name is Asmāʾ bt. Makhrabah b. Jandal b. Ubayr b. Nahshal b. Dārim, and he is the full brother of ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Rabīʿah. His conversion to Islam was early, before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the house of al-Arqam, and he emigrated to the land of Abyssinia with his wife].
