Translation
✧ His sending ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ ؓ in Dhū al-Qaʿdah of the year eight to the two kings of ʿUmān It is said: al-ʿĀṣ Wāʾil b. Hāshim, and he is called Abū ʿAbd Allāh as previously mentioned. He was one of the archers of the Arabs and their heroes. He died in Egypt in the year forty-three, at about one hundred years of age, though it is said ninety. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to the two kings of ʿUmān—with a ḍammah on the unpointed ʿayn and a lightened mīm—Jayfar, with a jīm, then a yāʾ with two dots beneath, then an opened fāʾ, and ʿAbd, the two sons of al-Julandā, with a ḍammah on the jīm. They are from the Azd, and the king among them is Jayfar. They both embraced Islam and were sincere, and they left ʿAmr free to collect the ṣadaqah and to judge among them. He remained with them until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, while he was still with them.
