The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
فِي إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَوْسَجَةَ ؓ إِلَى سَمْعَانَ [قَالَ ابْنُ سَعْدٍ: كَتَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى سَمْعَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ قُرَيْطِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَوْسَجَةَ الْعُرَنِيِّ فَرَقَعَ بِكِتَابِهِ دَلْوَهُ، فَقِيلَ لَهُمْ بَنُو الرَّاقِعِ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ سَمْعَانُ ].
Translation
✧ On his ﷺ sending ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwsajah ؓ to Samʿān [Ibn Saʿd said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrote to Samʿān b. ʿAmr b. Qurayṭ b. ʿUbayd b. Abī Bakr with ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwsajah al-ʿUranī. He patched his bucket with his letter, so they were called Banū al-Rāqiʿ. Then Samʿān embraced Islam.]
