The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ زِيَادَ بْنَ حَنْظَلَةَ ؓ إِلَى قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ وَالزِّبْرِقَانِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ [ زِيَادُ بْنُ حَنْظَلَةَ التَّمِيمِيُّ ثُمَّ الْعُمْرِيُّ. قَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَرِّ: لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُ لَهُ رِوَايَةً، وَهُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَى قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ وَالزِّبْرِقَانِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ لِيَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى مُسَيْلِمَةَ وَطُلَيْحَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ، وَقَدْ عَمِلَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، وَكَانَ مُنْقَطِعًا إِلَى عَلِيٍّ ؓ وَشَهِدَ مَعَهُ مَشَاهِدَهُ كُلَّهَا وَذَكَرَهُ سَيْفُ بْنُ عُمَرَ فِي كِتَابِ الرِّدَّةِ]
Translation
✧ His ﷺ dispatch of Ziyād b. Ḥanẓalah ؓ to Qays b. ʿĀṣim and al-Zibriqān b. Badr [Ziyād b. Ḥanẓalah al-Tamīmī, then al-ʿUmrī. Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: He was a Companion, and I know of no narration from him. He is the one whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to Qays b. ʿĀṣim and al-Zibriqān b. Badr so that they might assist one another against Musaylimah, Ṭulayḥah, and al-Aswad. He worked for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he was devoted to ʿAlī ؓ and attended all his battles with him. Sayf b. ʿUmar mentioned him in the Book of the Riddah.]
