The messengers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his correspondence to the kings and the like
إِرْسَالِهِ ﷺ - رِفَاعَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ ؓ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ [قَالَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَرِّ رِفَاعَةُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ الضُّبَيْبِيُّ، مِنْ بَنِي الضُّبَيْبِ - هَذَا قَوْلُ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ. وَقَالَ أَهْلُ النَّسَبِ: الضُّبَيْنِيُّ- بِالنُّونِ قَبْلَ الْيَاءِ الْأَخِيرَةِ مَنْ بَنِي ضُبَيْنَةَ مِنْ جُذَامٍ. قَدِمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ - فِي هُدْنَةِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ فَأَسْلَمُوا، وَعَقَدَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِوَاءً، وَأَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ- ﷺ غُلَامًا، وَكُتَبَ لَهُ كِتَابًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَأَسْلَمُوا. يُقَالُ: إِنَّهُ أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْغُلَامَ الْأَسْوَدَ الْمُسَمَّى مِدْغَمًا الْمَقْتُولَ بِخَيْبَرَ ].
Translation
✧ The sending of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Rifaʿah b. Zayd ؓ to his people [Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: Rifaʿah b. Zayd b. Wahb al-Ḍubaybiyy, from the Banu al-Ḍubayb – this is the saying of the people of hadith. And the people of genealogy said: al-Ḍubayniyy – with a nun before the final ya – from the Banu Ḍubaynah of Judham. He came to the Prophet ﷺ during the truce of al-Ḥudaybiyyah in a group from his people, and they embraced Islam, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tied a banner for him, and he gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a servant boy, and he wrote for him a letter to his people, and they embraced Islam. It is said that he gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the black servant boy named Midgham, who was killed at Khaybar.]
