The Conquest of Makkah
وَبَثَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَرَايَاهُ إِلَى الْأَوْثَانِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَوْلَ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَكُسِّرَتْ كُلُّهَا ، مِنْهَا: اللَّاتُ، وَالْعُزَّى، وَمَنَاةُ الثَّالِثَةُ الْأُخْرَى رَوَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ - رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ: لَمْ تَحِلَّ لَنَا غَنَائِمُ مَكَّةَ . وَرَوَى أَيْضًا عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ قَالَ: لَمْ يَغْنَمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ مَكَّةَ شَيْئًا، وَكَانَ يَبْعَثُ السَّرَايَا خَارِجَةً مِنَ الْحَرَمِ، وَعَرَفَةَ، وَالْحِلِّ، فَيَغْنَمُونَ وَيَرْجِعُونَ إِلَيْهِ، قَالُوا: بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ لِهَدْمِ الْعُزَّى، وَخَالِدَ بْنَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ قِبَلَ عُرَنَةَ، وَهِشَامَ بْنَ الْعَاصِ قِبَلَ يَلَمْلَمَ، وَسَعْدَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ الْأَشْهَلِيَّ إِلَى مَنَاةَ،
Translation
✧ And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dispatched his raiding parties to the idols that were around the Kaʿbah, and they were all destroyed, among them: al-Lāt, al-ʿUzzā, and Manāt, the third, the other. Muḥammad b. ʿUmar narrated from ʿUbayd b. ʿUmayr — may Allah have mercy on him — who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of the conquest of Makkah: The spoils of Makkah were not made lawful for us. And he also narrated from Yaʿqūb b. ʿUtbah who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not take any spoils from Makkah. He used to send out raiding parties outside the Sacred Precinct, to ʿArafah, and to the area outside the sacred boundary, and they would take spoils and return to him. They said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Khālid b. al-Walīd to demolish al-ʿUzzā, and Khālid b. Saʿīd b. al-ʿĀṣ towards ʿUranah, and Hishām b. al-ʿĀṣ towards Yalamlam, and Saʿd b. Zayd al-Ashhalī to Manāt.
