The Conquest of Makkah
Translation
✧ His ﷺ saying, “Makkah is not to be invaded after this day” On the authority of al-Ḥārith b. Mālik ؓ, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say on the day of the conquest of Makkah: “This [city] is not to be invaded after this day until the Day of Resurrection.” Related by al-Imām Aḥmad and al-Tirmidhī, and he said: It is a ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth. The scholars said: The meaning of his saying, “It is not to be invaded,” means [not to be invaded] upon [the basis of] unbelief. I say: If it is a prohibition, then there is no difficulty, and if it is a negation, then al-Bayhaqī said: Its meaning is upon the unbelief of its people.
