The Conquest of Makkah
مَنْ نَذَرَ إِنْ فَتَحَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مَكَّةَ عَلَى رَسُولُهِ أَنْ يُصَلُّوا بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ، إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ إِنْ فَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ مَكَّةَ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «صَلِّ هَهُنَا” فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ: «صَلِّ هَهُنَا” فَسَأَلَهُ: فَقَالَ شَأْنُكَ إِذَنْ، رَوَاهُ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ وَالْحَاكِمُ وَقَالَ: عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ، وَالْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ الصَّحَابَةِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «وَالَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّدًا بِالْحَقِّ لَوْ صَلَّيْتَ هَهُنَا لَقَضَى عَنْكَ ذَلِكَ كُلَّ صَلَاةٍ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ”.
Translation
✧ Whoever vowed that if Allah, the Exalted, grantedMakkahto His Messenger, he would pray in the Bayt al-Maqdis. On the authority of Jābir ؓ that a man said on the Day of the Conquest: I vowed that if Allah grants you Makkah, I will pray in the Bayt al-Maqdis. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Pray here.” He asked him again, and he said: “Pray here.” Then he asked him, and he said: “Then it is your affair.” Related by Imām Aḥmad and Abū Dāwūd with a sound chain, and al-Ḥākim. And he said: According to the condition of Muslim, and Imām Aḥmad and Abū Dāwūd. And in a narration from one of the Companions, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “By the One who sent Muḥammad with the truth, if you pray here, it will suffice for you in place of every prayer in the Bayt al-Maqdis.”
