The Conquest of Makkah
ذِكْرُ الْمَنَامِ الَّذِي رَآهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ - ؓ رَوَى الْبَيْهَقِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ؓ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ!! أَرَانِي فِي الْمَنَامِ وَأَرَاكَ دَنَوْنَا مِنْ مَكَّةَ، فَخَرَجَتْ إِلَيْنَا كَلْبَةٌ تَهُرُّ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا مِنْهَا اسْتَلْقَتْ عَلَى ظَهْرِهَا، فَإِذَا هِيَ تَشْخَبُ لَبَنًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «ذَهَبَ كَلْبُهُمْ وَأَقْبَلَ دَرُّهُمْ، وَهُمْ سَيَأْوُونَ بِأَرْحَامِهِمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَاقُونَ بَعْضَهُمْ فَإِنْ لَقِيتُمْ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ فَلَا تَقْتُلُوهُ”.
Translation
✧ Mention of the dream that Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ؓ saw Al-Bayhaqī narrated from Ibn Shihāb ؓ that Abū Bakr said: O Messenger of Allah!! I saw in a dream, and I saw you, that we drew near to Makkah, and a bitch came out to us growling. When we drew near to her, she lay on her back, and there she was, flowing with milk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Their dog has gone, and their milk-flow has come, and they will seek refuge in their wombs, and you will meet some of them. If you meet Abū Sufyān, do not kill him.”
