Translation

✧ Among the great events that occurred during the life of Abraham the Friend (peace and blessings be upon him) is the story of the people of Lot ﷺ and the widespread punishment that befell them. That is because Lot was the son of Hārān b. Tāraḥ, who is Āzar, and Lot was the son of Abraham the Friend's brother, for Abraham, Hārān, and Nāḥūr were brothers. Lot ﷺ emigrated with his uncle Abraham ﷺ, believing in him and following him in his religion, to Syria, accompanied by Sarah. It has been said: Tārikh, the father of Abraham, was with them, and he was not upon his religion, until they reached Ḥarrān, and Tārikh died in Ḥarrān upon his disbelief. Abraham, Lot, and Sarah departed to Syria, and Lot was circumcised along with Abraham, Lot being fifty-three years old. Then they went on to Egypt and encountered there one of its pharaohs, said to be called the brother of al-Ḍaḥḥāk, whom al-Ḍaḥḥāk had appointed as his governor over it. Then they returned once more to Syria, and Abraham settled in Palestine while Lot settled in the Jordan.
