Translation
✧ Summary of the story of Lot ﷺ. He is God's Prophet Lot b. Haran b. Tarah, who is Azar, nephew of Abraham (peace be upon them both). He went out with Abraham migrating to Syria then to Egypt then returned with him to Syria and settled in Jordan. God, glorified be He, sent him as a prophet to the people of Sodom in the land of Ghor Zughar. Its people were among the most wicked of creation and the worst of them; they cut off the road, committed abomination in their assembly, and committed the indecency that no people before them had ever preceded to, namely coming to males of the worlds and forsaking the women God had created for them. Lot ﷺ called them, but they did not desist nor were they guided; rather they strove to expel him from their town, stating openly and confessing that he was among those who purify themselves. When he despaired of their faith and none of them believed him, he prayed against them. So God, Mighty and Majestic, sent His angels to destroy them; they were the very angels of good tidings to Abraham of the birth of Isaac. When the envoys came down upon Lot in the form of guests, he was distressed on their account, fearing for them from his people, and he did not become aware that they were envoys of his Lord until his wife betrayed him and told her people of their lodging with her husband, mentioning the beauty of their appearance. When his people gathered and sought evil, here the angels told him to be reassured that they would not reach him, and commanded him to leave by night with his family and that none of them should look back. They informed him that his wife would look back and that what would befall her people would befall her. So God saved Lot and his family of believers. Then the appointed term of God, glorified be He, came to Lot and he died at the age of eighty.
