Translation

✧ The Prophet's ﷺ conquest of al-Waṭīḥ and al-Salālim, which were the last fortresses of Khaybar to be conquered Ibn Isḥāq said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ advanced upon the possessions, taking them possession by possession, and conquering them fortress by fortress, until they reached those two fortresses. Every remnant that had been routed from al-Naṭāh and al-Shiqq came to them, and they fortified themselves with them. Khaybar was two sides: the first was al-Shiqq and al-Naṭāh, which he conquered first, and the second side was al-Kutaybah, al-Waṭīḥ, and al-Sulālim. They made it so that no one from those who fortified them could be seen, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ resolved to set up the mangonel against them, because of what he saw of their shutting themselves in and that no one from them came out. When they became certain of destruction – and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had besieged them for fourteen days – they asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for peace. Kinānah b. Abī al-Ḥuqayq sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a man from the Jews called Shammākh, saying: "Shall I come down and speak with you?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Yes." So Kinānah b. Abī al-Ḥuqayq came down and made peace with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the condition that the blood of the fighting men in their fortresses be spared, and that the offspring be left to them, and that they would depart from Khaybar and its land with their offspring, and that they would leave between the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and whatever they had of property and land, and on the yellow and white (gold and silver), the horses, the coats of mail, and the cloth, except a garment on a person's back. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "And the protection of Allah and the protection of His Messenger is quit of you if you conceal anything from me." So they made peace with him on that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent to the possessions and seized them one after another, and he found in those two fortresses one hundred coats of mail, four hundred swords, one thousand spears, and five hundred Arabian bows with their quivers.
