The Expedition of Khaybar
أَخْذِ الْحُمَّى الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَرَفْعِهَا عَنْهُمْ بِبَرَكَتِهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ الْحَافِظُ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي " الدَّلَائِلِ ": أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدَانُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، أَوْ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ قَدِمَ وَالثَّمَرَةُ خَضِرَةٌ، قَالَ: فَأَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِيهَا، فَحُمُّوا، فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ، فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُقَرِّسُوا الْمَاءَ فِي الشِّنَانِ، ثُمَّ يَحْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ بَيْنَ أَذَانَيِ الْفَجْرِ، وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ، فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ فَكَأَنَّمَا نُشِطُوا مِنْ عُقُلٍ. قَالَ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ: وَرَوَيْنَاهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ مَوْصُولًا، وَعَنْهُ: بَيْنَ صَلَاتَيِ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ.
Translation
✧ The fever that afflicted the Muslims and its removal from them by his blessing ﷺ. Al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Bayhaqī said in "al-Dalāʾil": Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allāh b. Yūsuf al-Aṣbahānī informed us, Abū Saʿīd b. al-Aʿrābī narrated to us, Saʿdān b. Naṣr narrated to us, Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal, from Abū ʿUthmān al-Nahdī, or from Abū Qilābah, who said: When the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Khaybar, he came while the fruit was green. He said: The people hastened to it and were seized by fever. They complained of that to him, so he commanded them to cool water in the water-skins, then pour it over themselves between the two calls to prayer of dawn, and to mention the name of Allah over it. They did that, and it was as if they had been released from bonds. Al-Bayhaqī said: We have also narrated it connected from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Rāfiʿ, and from him: between the two prayers of Maghrib and ʿIshāʾ.
