Translation
✧ [The Poetry of Ibn al-Zibaʿrā in Response to Mawhab] ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zibaʿrā answered him, saying: And Mawhab came to be like a wretched donkey that traversed a land in which he calls out — for a slave like you does not oppose Suhayl; your effort has gone astray, O you who are hostile. So desist, O son of the evil blacksmith, from him, And turn away from the talk in the lands. And do not mention ʿItāb Abū Yazīd; For far indeed are the seas from the small water-holes.
