The Treaty of al-Hudaybiyah
Translation
✧ Mention of the Prophet's command to Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah to shave his head due to an excuse On the authority of Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah ؓ, who said: "We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Hudaybiyah while we were in the state of iḥrām, and the polytheists had besieged us. I had a head wound and vermin were falling onto my face. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me and said: 'Are the vermin of your head harming you?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I did not think that the hardship had reached this extent with you!' He then ordered me to shave my head, and Allah, the Exalted, revealed this verse: 'And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of the head [must offer] a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice' [al-Baqarah: 196]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Fast three days, or give charity to six poor persons with a faraq [a measure], or sacrifice what is easy for you.'"
