The story of Abraham the Friend (peace and blessings be upon him)
Translation
✧ The children of Ibrāhīm al-Khalīl, upon him and upon them be peace and blessings. The first to be born to him was Ismāʿīl from Hājar al-Qibṭiyyah al-Miṣriyyah. Then was born to him Isḥāq from Sārah, the daughter of the paternal uncle of al-Khalīl. Sārah died before him in the village of Ḥabrūn, which is in the land of Kanʿān, at the age of one hundred and twenty-seven years, as stated by the People of the Book. Ibrāhīm ﷺ grieved over her and mourned her, may God have mercy on her. He bought from a man of the Banū Ḥīth, called ʿAfrūn b. Ṣakhr, a cave for four hundred mithqāls of silver, and buried Sārah there. They said: Then Ibrāhīm sought a wife for his son Isḥāq and married him to Rifqā bt. Thabwīl b. Nāḥūr b. Tārakh. He sent his freedman, and he brought her from her land, accompanied by her wet nurse and her maidservants, on camels. They said: Then Ibrāhīm ﷺ married Qanṭūrā, and she bore him: Zamarān, Yaqishān, Mādān, Madyan, Shayāq, and Shūḥ. They mentioned the offspring of each of these children of Qanṭūrā. Then after her he married Ḥajūn bt. Amīn, and she bore him five: Kaysān, Sūraj, Amīm, Lūṭān, and Nāfas. Thus it was mentioned by Abū al-Qāsim al-Suhaylī in his book “al-Taʿrīf wa-al-Iʿlām.” It is also said: Hājar lived for a period after Sārah. But the correct view is that Hājar died before Sārah, as we mentioned in the account of Ibrāhīm’s journey to Makkah, and that is the correct view, if God Almighty wills.
