The Detachment of al-Mundhir b. 'Amr to Bi'r Ma'unah (the Detachment of the Qur'an Reciters)
Translation
✧ [The stabbing of Rabīʿah at ʿĀmir] Ibn Isḥāq said: Rabīʿah b. ʿĀmir b. Mālik charged at ʿĀmir b. al-Ṭufayl and stabbed him with the spear. It struck his thigh and wounded him without killing him, and he fell from his horse. He said: 'This is the doing of Abū Barāʾ. If I die, my blood belongs to my paternal uncle, so let no one be pursued for it. If I live, I will see my own judgment regarding what has been brought to me.' Then he said: 'Bring me my horse.' It was brought to him, and he mounted it, and he died while he was on its back.
