The Expedition of Uḥud
Translation
✧ [The Poetry of Hind After Her Return from Uḥud] Hind bt. ʿUtbah said, when the polytheists turned back from Uḥud: I returned, and in my soul are many griefs; and some of what I sought has escaped me From the companions of Badr, of Quraysh and others, Banī Hāshim among them, and from the people of Yathrib; but indeed I have attained something, though it was not As I had hoped in my going and my riding. Ibn Hishām said: Some of the people of knowledge in poetry recited to me her saying: And some of what I sought has escaped me But some of them reject it as Hind's, and Allah knows best.
