The Expedition of Uḥud
Translation
✧ Mention of the Prophet's ﷺ supplication on the day of Uḥud Imam Aḥmad said: with his chain of transmission from Ibn Rifāʿah al-Zuraqī, from his father, who said: When it was the day of Uḥud and the polytheists withdrew, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Form rows so that I may praise my Lord, Mighty and Majestic.' They arranged themselves behind him in rows. He then said: 'O Allah, to You belongs all praise. O Allah, there is none who can withhold what You extend, and none who can extend what You withhold, and none who can guide whom You lead astray, and none who can lead astray whom You guide, and none who can give what You prevent, and none who can prevent what You give, and none who can bring near what You keep distant, and none who can keep distant what You bring near. O Allah, spread upon us from Your blessings, Your mercy, Your bounty, and Your provision. O Allah, I ask You for the enduring bliss that does not change or perish. O Allah, I ask You for bliss on the day of poverty and security on the day of fear. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have given us and the evil of what You have withheld from us. O Allah, make faith beloved to us and beautify it in our hearts, and make disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to us, and make us among the rightly guided. O Allah, cause us to die as Muslims and give us life as Muslims, and join us with the righteous, not disgraced or afflicted. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who deny Your messengers and obstruct Your path, and place upon them Your punishment and torment. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who were given the Scripture, O God of truth.' Al-Nasāʾī narrated it in al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah.
