The Expedition of Dhū Amarr (the Expedition of Najd)
غَزْوَةِ غَطَفَانَ إِلَى نَجْدٍ وَهِيَ ذُو أَمَرَّ، وَسَبَبُهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ جَمْعًا مِنْ بَنِي ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ ذُبْيَانَ بْنِ بَغِيضِ بْنِ رَيْثِ بْنِ غَطَفَانَ وَبَنِي مُحَارِبِ بْنِ خَصْفَةَ بْنِ قَيْسِ بِذِي أَمَرَّ قَدْ تَجَمَّعُوا يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يُصِيبُوا مِنْ أَطْرَافِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ، وَجَمَعَهُمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُ: دُعْثُورُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مُحَارِبٍ
Translation
✧ The Expedition of Ghaṭafān to Najd This is Dhū Amarr. Its cause was that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ learned that a gathering of Banū Thaʿlabah b. Saʿīd b. Dhubyān b. Baghīḍ b. Rayth b. Ghaṭafān and Banū Muḥārib b. Khaṣafah b. Qays at Dhū Amarr had assembled, intending to strike at the outskirts of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they were gathered by a man among them called Duʿthūr b. al-Ḥārith b. Muḥārib.
