The Expedition of Dhū Amarr (the Expedition of Najd)
لَمَّا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ السَّوِيقِ، أَقَامَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ بَقِيَّةَ ذِي الْحَجَّةِ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا، ثُمَّ غَزَا نَجْدًا، يُرِيدُ غَطَفَانَ، وَهِيَ غَزْوَةُ ذِي أَمَرَ سَنَةُ ثَلَاثٍ مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ فِي أَوَّلِهَا وَيُقَالُ لَهَا: غَزْوَةُ نجد . وَيُقَالُ لَهَا: غَزْوَةُ أَنْمَارٍ. وَرُوِيَ أَنَّ هَذَا كَانَ فِي سَنَةِ خَمْسٍ مِنَ الْهِجْرَةِ.
Translation
✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from the expedition of al-Sawīq, he stayed in Madinah for the remainder of Dhū al-Ḥijjah or close to it, then he raided Najd, intending Ghaṭafān. That is the expedition of Dhū Amarr in the year three of the Hijrah, at its beginning. It is also called the expedition of Najd. It is also called the expedition of Anmār. It has been narrated that this was in the year five of the Hijrah.
