✧ Abdullah b. Salamah al-Qa'nabi narrated to us: Abdul Aziz b. Muhammad narrated to us from Hisham b. Urwah from his father that Umar b. al-Khattab used to teach the people the tashahhud in prayer while he was delivering a sermon from the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He would say: When one of you recites the tashahhud, let him say: "In the name of Allah, the best of names. Greetings, pure words, prayers, and good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger." Umar said, "Begin with yourselves after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and send peace upon the righteous servants of Allah."
