✧ While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the noon prayer, the people were in rows behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reaching for something; he kept reaching for it, and he stepped back, and the people stepped back. Then he stepped back a second time, and the people stepped back. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we saw you do something today that you did not use to do in prayer." He said, "Paradise with its splendor and radiance was presented to me, and I reached for a bunch of its grapes. Had I taken it, those between heaven and earth would have eaten of it without diminishing it, but it was withheld from me. Then the Fire was presented to me, and when I felt its scorching heat, I stepped back from it. Most of those whom I saw in it were women: if they are entrusted, they divulge; if they ask, they are importunate; if they are asked, they are stingy; and if they are given, they do not give thanks. I saw in it 'Amr b. Luhayy dragging his intestines in the Fire. The one I saw who most resembled him is Ma'bad b. Aktham al-Khuza'i." Ma'bad said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you fear for me because of his resemblance? He is my father." He said, "No, you are a believer and he is a disbeliever. He was the first to lead the Arabs to worship idols."
